Dynamic stretching should be done before exercising, and static exercises after exercise to relax and lengthen the muscles Traditionally people did static stretching before exercising, but these have been shown to decrease performance in athletes if done prior to competing. The following 2 videos on You-Tube demonstrate the difference between these types of stretching. Please remember to check with your physiotherapist before you try these exercises, to ensure that they are all appropriate for you and your physical condition.
