Many people suffering from pain, especially in the back, shoulder, hip and knee are worried that exercise will make their pain worse.
When the pain is acute and one is seeing your physiotherapist for treatment you will gradually be given more exercises. But once your condition has healed the pain should decrease. Chronic pain is defined as pain persisting after healing time, usually for more than 3 to 6 months. The latest research shows that it is safe to exercise even if you have pain. We are trained to help you gradually improve your activity levels and manage your pain whilst exercising. Exercise actually decreases pain due to various mechanisms at work in your brain. Please book an appointment and together we can work out a plan to get you back to exercising.
